The Ministry of Transport enacted a EUR 1.5 billion recovery funding programme for national Low Emission Zones (LEZ). The objective of this initiative is to decarbonize cities, mitigate noise and improve air quality. The investment will be allocated to municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitants and provincial capitals, but also municipalities of between 20,000 and 50,000 inhabitants having public transport service will be able to apply for aid to digitalize their systems and renew their fleet.
